MWB Mercedes Sprinter Camper Conversion: 4 Years in 44 Minutes

If you’re planning a Mercedes Sprinter camper conversion, this video is the condensed version of the full build series—four years of restoration and conversion work edited down to just over 44 minutes. It’s a great watch if you want a realistic overview of how a conversion comes together: strip-out, layout decisions, storage, electrics, shower room, kitchen, bed systems, and the final tweaks before the first trip.

What you’ll see in the build recap (video chapters)

Use these chapters as a quick checklist for your own Sprinter van conversion planning:

  • 00:00 – Welcoming Bolt home
The start of the project and a reminder that every build begins with the base van and a clear plan.
  • 00:40 – Stripping out the old interior
A proper strip-out sets you up for clean routing (wiring, plumbing, insulation) later.
  • 01:55 – Crucial sizing up of the front dinette
This is one of the most important moments in any Sprinter camper layout: seat depth, table position, walkway space, and how the area converts into a bed.
  • 05:15 – Creating the shower room space
The shower room footprint affects everything around it—especially kitchen length, storage, and bed size.
  • 05:31 – Electrics cupboard
A dedicated electrics space makes maintenance and upgrades easier. Even if your electrical system evolves over time, the “cupboard concept” keeps things tidy.
  • 05:41 – IKEA blinds + 06:11 – Map theme
Proof that comfort and style matter. Window coverings and interior “theme” choices are the finishing touches that make a van feel like a home.
  • 07:31 – Lots & lots of lockers
Storage wins conversions. The more you can keep off worktops and floors, the more usable the van feels day-to-day.
  • 13:20 – Occasional front bed base demo
Multi-use furniture is how you get a roomy living area without sacrificing sleeping options.
  • 14:51 – Custom shower room sink build
Great inspiration if you’re trying to fit a sink into a tight washroom without losing elbow room.
  • 15:36 – Testing the queen-size rear bed
Always test sleep systems early. “Looks good on paper” often changes once cushions and bedding go in.
  • 16:45 – Space check with both beds down
This is the real-life test that matters: can you still move, access storage, and use the essentials?
  • 18:55 – Kitchen build + 32:10 – Gas & water second fix
Kitchens are the heart of most camper builds. The later “second fix” stage is where it starts feeling finished.
  • 33:55 – Dometic double-access fridge demo
A practical walkthrough of how the fridge works in the space (and why access from different angles can be useful).
  • 36:07 – Custom roof rack build
Strong inspiration for carrying bulky gear without sacrificing interior space.
  • 37:00 – Final walkthrough + 44:05 – First trip
The payoff: a complete look at the finished van and the first outing.

Key ideas worth stealing for your own Sprinter camper conversion

1) Lock in your layout before you over-build

The early “dinette sizing” moment is the reminder: measure, mock up, and test. A few centimetres can make the difference between “fine” and “frustrating”.

2) Give electrics a proper home

Even if you’re DIY-ing, an electrics cupboard creates a clean place for isolation, fuses, charging gear, and future upgrades. It also helps if someone else ever has to troubleshoot it.

3) Design storage around real items

“Lots of lockers” isn’t just a nice feature—it’s what keeps van life practical. Build storage around the gear you actually carry (cooking kit, clothes, tools, outdoor kit), not vague “cupboard space”.
